WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

 Domestic Violence is the abuse of power and control of one family member or partner, by another. The abuse can be physical ( BEATING, PUNCHING, HITTING, SHOVING, PSYCHOLOGICAL (emotional), through VERBAL, AND ECONOMICAL ABUSE ).  Domestic Violent also can include marital rape, incest, and elderly abuse. Nearly 1/4 of the women in the United Stated more then a half a million will be abused by a current partner sometime during their lives.  Forty -seven percent ( 47% ) of husband who beat their wives at lease three or more time a year​.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DATA:

According to the FBI one third of all women who are murdered by husband or partners or ex-partners while in the process of breaking up or leaving the relationship. Acts of domestic violent occur every ' TWELVE SECONDS.'  More frequently than any other crime in the ​United States.  Over one thousand (1000) women die annually as a result of domestic violent survey reported .  Ninety-five percent (95% ) were victimized by their husband and /or partners in New York an average of  four percent ( 4 % ) people are murdered each week as a result of DOMESTIC VIOLENT.

Survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault can display certain behaviors, for example:  feelings of guilt, shame, blaming themselves, powerlessness, abandonment, rejection, depression, low self-esteem. They often isolate themselves from others as they have difficulties in maintaining positive relationship. 
Such abused people are ripe for further exploitation, their vulnerability often is evidenced by their need to cling and identify with a controller or aggressor.  This behavior is often seen in prostitution, for example, Victims often cannot protect their own children from being  sexually abused and it continues through generational reenactment. Until the victim gets help.
